Is it summer yet?

So when I left work last night and saw this…

…I was not thrilled. It’s no secret how I feel about the snow. I’m a summer-kind-of-gal. Even more so, I’m so looking forward to running outside in the sunshine…especially since I have these new adorable running shorts from STX!  So for now, I’ll just have to wear them in the gym. While you’re holed up inside on this snow day, make sure you check out STX’s new women’s line. The shorts I just got in the mail are really cute and light-weight, perfect for sunshine-filled runs! …If we ever get there…

Think Pink & Go Shopping

I love shopping—and if it’s for a good cause—all the more reason to spend money. At least that’s how I justify it!

This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month…and businesses galore are giving money to this fantastic cause.

Here’s a round up of a few of my favorites:

Lilly PulitzerSephora: Beauty That Gives Back, Betsey Johnson’s Breast Cancer Awareness bundle, Nordstrom (Hunter Boots? Yes please!), Anna Sui for Hanky Panky, fabulous boots from “Shoedazzle,” Caribou Coffee: Amy’s Story, Pink Croc collection from LacosteOverstock Jeweler, Crabtree & Evelyn: Pink Collection, New Balance for the cure, Donna Karen Cashmere Candle, CC Skye Baby Pink Screw Bracelet, Van Cleef & Arpels earrings, Andrea Montgomery necklace, Clinique Butter Shine lip balm, Vaio pink laptop, Dove Promises of Hope chocolate, Cuisinart stainless steel carafe and other appliances from Amazon.com, Trudeau Drivetime coffee mug, Erin Condren products, and Cleavage Creek Wines. Get to shopping!

The list really goes on… Any others?

Ella Rue

This is another one of those LIKE…actually LOVE posts. One of my dear friends, Krista Johnson, opened a fabulous consignment boutique in Georgetown (DC, not Kentucky for my KY fans:))…several months ago…Called Ella Rue! (After her sweet rescue dogs, Ella and Rue!) So while I’m a little late to the party posting about the great shop, it just occurred to me I needed to spread the word!

Last time I was in DC I surprised Miss Krista in her shop and of course got some shopping out of the way. I also got to meet one of her star workers, Lolly! I stocked up on jewelry, gorgeous, designer jewelry, oh and it was very cheap. Nice combo huh? That’s Krista’s thing. She’s a fashionista—with a flair for finds. This girl has a heart of gold, and an eye for fashion. I’m so blessed to have her as a friend.

And of course I have to brag about the gorg pieces I got while I was there! Several beautiful pairs of earrings (both of which I’ve already worn on air!) And two fantastic necklaces! All of this for uner $50.00. Seriously!

Like the ER Facebook page for deals and tons of pics from new items in stock!

So next time you’re in Georgetown stop by Ella Rue at 3236 P Street NW, Washington, D.C.!

Auburn, Florida, UVA and Texas fans, there’s some orange stuff in there for you too… But mostly, it’s ALL VOL!

NewlyMaid

What a brilliant concept! Why didn’t someone think of this before?!

So many times I feel like I am turning into Katherine Heigl from 27 Dresses..My closet is literally filled with bridesmaid dresses! Now, I have a solution: NewlyMaid!

Here’s how it works: Your BFF’s wedding just wrapped. You have that bridesmaid dress you will never, ever wear again. Instead of hanging it in your closet, go to NewlyMaid.com, request a mailer, and send your dress in. Once your dress is received, you will unlock special pricing for the purchase of a NewlyMaid dress. They are super-adorable, simple, little-black-dresses you will most definitely get wear out of.

I have a couple of dresses I’m going to send in, so expect a follow-up post about how the process went!

What happens to your old dress? It’s recycled in one of 2 ways:

RecycleQualifying dresses that are 100% polyester will be recycled using the latest technology. For the first time, new methods are available to break down polyester to create new polyester yarn. The new filament is woven into new polyester fabric and then used to manufacture new garments. NewlyMaid is participating in a program with Unifi to recycle polyester. Future styles will include certified Unifi Repreve fabrics. To learn more about Repreve, visit: http://www.repreve.com/WhatIsRepreve/AUniqueRecycledProduct.aspx

Charity

NewlyMaid has partnered with Clothes4Souls, which will be the recipient of all garments in good wearable condition. Please visit http://www.clothes4souls.org/ to learn more about how this organization brings shoes and apparel to people in need around the world.

Win-win.

Lists

I admit it, I sign up for way too many newsletters and emails. Literally every morning when I wake up my inbox is filled with 15% off here, free shipping there, check out this new dress! It only fuels my shopping addiction, I know…but I love it!

In addition to the obligatory 10% off emails, there are lots of perks to being on lists and a “member” to certain sites. Most of these shops, if they’re smart, have rewards for members on their birthdays!

On my birthday yesterday, I got a ton of emails for free stuff! Here’s a few worth mentioning:

-%15 off at Anthropology

-Free drink from Starbucks

-Free treat from Panera

-Free gift from Sephora

…and the list goes on.

So while some lists are worthless, others are more than worth it. Free latte? Don’t mind if I do!

70′s Finds in Lexington!

In the midst of my hippie costume search, I found an adorable boutique that caters to the retro lifestyle. Not costumes, more clothes that are from the good old days… But not just clothing, the shop has jewelry, furniture, kitchen stuff, trinkets, pretty much anything from the decades past! It’s a vintage-hot spot!

I highly recommend checking out Street Scene!

Bonus: The store is uber-affordable. More info here.

Decisions, Decisions

In preparation for my Los Angeles trip, I went shopping! Not for bathing suits…for hippie costumes! I’ll be attending a birthday party in California next week, and the theme is the 70′s!

I found an awesome local costume shop that rents authentic 70′s garb. Problem is, I found several I like! Need help deciding…Option #1:
