I recently discovered a fantastic organization in Kentucky….Speak Out and Rescue. Its not just an animal rescue organization, its a group of people that are dedicated to helping a specific type of animal abuse: Dogs chained outside.
In my job, I see so many dogs chained outside, in the cold, in the rain, and I often wonder if they are ever allowed inside. It breaks my heart that the dogs are left outside. Because growing up in my house, the dogs slept on the leather couch like a king!
Unfortunately in Kentucky, there is no law prohibiting people from chaining their animals outside. Thankfully, SOAR is dedicated to helping those helpless animals.
To make this cause pull at your heart strings, SOAR has a “Wall of Shame” on their website.
This is a description of what SOAR does via their website:
SOAR is an all volunteer organization based in Georgetown, Kentucky focusing on the plight of dogs chained continuously outdoors.
SOAR was formed to speak out on behalf of chained, abused, and neglected dogs, and to help rescue those in need.
SOAR works with other animal welfare groups and helps transport, advocate and educate, to create better living conditions for all animals.
SOAR supports legislation for stiffer penalties for animal abuse and works with state and local governments to change laws and ordinances.
To help: Like all charities, SOAR needs money. Click here to donate.
