Police and animal control officials were on the scene at a Lexington home Wednesday afternoon after neighbors reported a dog had been left inside the home for 7-10 days alone after the tenants of the home were evicted.
Police were called to the home on Asbury Lane just before noon. Animal control officers were called, and the dog, a pit bull, was removed from the home. Officials say some dry dog food had been left in the home, and the dog appeared to okay as officials took the dog from the home for treatment.
Officials say the former tenants will likely face charges in the case.
