Another November to Remember: LEX 18 News Remains #1
During November sweeps, NBC affiliate WLEX-TV maintained its dominant news position in the Lexington market, according to the November 2011 Nielsen Media Research. LEX 18 News was #1 morning, early evening, and late news, and swept every major demographic category in every newscast.
Highlights from the November 2011 ratings book include:
–LEX 18 News at Sunrise, the market’s top morning news for well over a decade, once again beat its competitors combined at both 5AM and 6AM. Sunrise 5A-6A grew by 11 household share points from July ’11 and delivered a 4 rating, beating its nearest competitor by 100%. Sunrise 6A-7A grew by 15% year-to-year in households, and delivered a remarkable 8 rating in women 25-54!
–The Today Show on LEX18 from 7AM-9AM outperformed its nearest competitor by over 100% in adults 25-54. The Today Show’s 9AM and 10AM hours also won their time periods.
–LEX 18 News at Noon led its time period in key demos and grew 35% in household share from July ’11. LEX 18 News at 12:30 was up 5 share points from July, and also won its time slot in all adult demos.
-LEX 18 News at 4:00 continues to grow, winning its time slot while increasing its share by 4 points since July ’11.
–LEX 18 News at 5:00, 5:30, and 6:00 were all #1 with double digits in household ratings, and beat the competitors combined in key demos. LEX 18 News at 5:00 grew year-to-year in households by 25%, while the newly-reformatted LEX 18 News at 5:30 increased its share year-to-year by 22% and posted a 7 rating in adults 25-54. LEX 18 News at 6:00 grew by 4 share points from July ’11 and also delivered a 7 rating in adults 25-54.
–LEX 18 News at 11:00 continues as the number one choice for late news, growing on its weak prime-time NBC lead-in by 250%! LEX 18 News at 11:00 also outperformed its nearest competitor by 67% in adults 25-54, delivering a 5 rating.
-The weekend editions of LEX 18 News were also #1, beating news competitors in households and key demos.
