I covered a really heartbreaking story today – the funeral for a young college student who was killed in a car accident last week by a suspected drunk driver.
“A legacy of laughs,” Brandon Ashworth said. “Anytime I’m with Dire he always laughs and jokes.”
Ososanya’s life was a bright one full of love.
“He would just laugh it off, Joke around,” Melvin Adeola said. “He had an amazing loud laugh annoying at times.”
Ososanya’s little brother was smiling through the pain.
“That’s my big brother,” Semi Ayodele said. “That’s all I think about when I talk about him I’m going to smile, cause all I think about are the happy times we had. All the times we just did great things together.”
Ososanya was just 20-years-old. He was a promising young business student at Morgan State University.
Last week, he was driving on Route 202 when a car driven by 31-year-old James Calero crossed the center line and hit him.Calero was initially charged with DUI and reckless driving, but prosecutors dropped the charges, pending a complete investigation.
They expect to re-filed charges later on.
Calero has a history of charges, including driving or attempting to drive while under the influence.
Wednesday was not about how he died, but rather how Ososanya lived.
“He was charismatic,” Ashworth said. “No one could break his soul.”
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help his family pay for funeral expenses. Whatever is leftover will go to help pay for his little brother’s college tuition. If you’d like to contribute, click here: https://www.gofundme.com/u8fhqyms
