The phrase means “Maui is the best.” And there’s a reason the locals say this often. Maui is heavenly.
I’ve been to Hawaii several times now, and my love for Kauai is endless, but my first trip to Maui was nothing short of perfection. A few highlights from our stay in Kapalua:
The trip got off to a rough start – and I say “rough” lightly – because even though it rained all day Monday, we were still in Maui. Which, really can’t be beat on a rainy day. So, I spent the day at the Ritz Carlton spa. I know, life is hard.
Once the skies cleared – the pool was filled with people and the beach was bumping. Although I didn’t get to go to the famous Mama’s Fish House , I more than made up for it eating at the Honolua Store (yes, it’s a convenience store, but my GOSH those sammies are good!) , dinner at the Ritz Carlton, and a few other island stops.
One of my favorite activities was an easy hike along the coast in Kapalua, even on a cloudy day, it was gorgeous, refreshing and the water was “Windex-blue!”
Now many people have asked – is Maui my favorite island in Hawaii? That’s like asking me to pick my favorite pet…it’s just not possible. But let’s just say – I will most certainly be back. Even though I have a goal of going somewhere new each year – I’ve got Maui on my mind for 2017.
