The alleged assault happened at UMS martial arts school on Columbia Pike.
Police say 27-year-old Randon Millir of Fairfax inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl. Millir was a martial arts teacher at the school for a couple of years, where he came in contact with at least 100 students.
“I found out he texted the teenager August 8th and then I fired him,” says Il Yong Um is the master and owner. Police say the girl was assaulted in July during a summer camp. After, police say Millilr stayed in touch with the girl by sending her texts.
Master Um says he’s disappointed in Millir, who started as a student and then hired to teach. Um says they do background checks on employees, but he would not elaborate. Um says he sent out an email to parents of students informing them of the incident.
Parents outside the school say they plan to go home and talk to their kids. “My kids go here, I’m worried but I’m always watching them when they practice,” says one mom who has two kids at the school.
Master Um says his first priority is the safety of the students.
Daniela Desmond, whose daughter attended the school this summer, says she immediately recognized Millir’s mug shot. “He was actually one of the people there when my daughter went,” she says. “He seemed nice and he seemed like he was good with the kids.”
Police ask that anyone with information give them a call.
