You know that SNL skit where Bill Hader plays Stefon, the ostentatious ‘Weekend Correspondent?’ The event I went to felt a little bit like that.
What was the hottest club in Nashville Thursday night? It was Restoration Hardware. Yes, the furniture store.
If you’ve ever been to a Restoration Hardware store (or even walked past their doors and drooled like me) then you know they’ve got the whole chic-aesthetic thing figured out. The Nashville store – which up until this week – was located inside the Green Hills Mall – opened up their brand new location in a very un-furniture-store like way.
First of all, there was a velvet rope with a line of people wrapped around the side of the building. Once inside, the signature RH chandeliers were just about everywhere you looked. The 70,000 sq feet of indoor/outdoor space looked more like a lounge than a store. There are 4 levels – each one just as beautiful as the next. Massive olive trees and fountains were sprinkled throughout luxurious lounge seating on the main level’s cafe. Plus, there was a wine-tasting, champagne room, Bellini bar and frose. And don’t forget the bites which were little teases of the menu for the cafe by chef Brendan Sodikoff. Amidst their cult-following cloud couches and impeccably designed rooms was a truffle grilled-cheese bar, mini burgers and tuna tartare, deviled eggs and so much more.
The guest list was also pretty impressive…1,600 people. Like I said, it was not your average opening. And in typical Nashville fashion, major celebrities were mingling around as if no big deal. Naomi Watts and Portia de Rossi were spotted, as well as Nathan and Matthew Followill of the Kings of Leon and Jake Owen. I was with my girl gang, and we were simply in awe. (Side note – we also missed the memo that this was super fancy as we wore jeans.)
The fabulous party also benefited a Nashville favorite – the Frist Art Museum.
Think delicious food and cocktails seamlessly intertwined with home decor. I’ll definitely be back, even if the DJ and the Bellinis were a one time thing. This furniture store knows how to party.
