It’s pronounced, “show-haan,” and trust me, you want to try this restaurant. I am a *very* picky eater. Basically I have the palette of a 5-year-old, give me grilled cheese and tomato soup and I’m the happiest clam in ClamTown. So clearly, an Indian restaurant was not in my wheelhouse. But I am SO glad I got adventurous!
Let me start by asking you this – do you like Indian food? Then yes, you will love Chauhan. But even if you don’t, I think you’ll still dig it. Superstar chef, Maneet Chauhan is the namesake and creator, you may recognize her from Iron Chef & Chopped. We are so lucky to have her in Nashville!
**When you go:
DRINK: Best Intentions
APPETIZERS: Um, all of them. But if you have to choose:
-Gol Guppa Shots: These round puffs are crispy on the outside, then when you bite into them you get a burst of mint/cilantro water. SO unexpected and delicious.
-Tandoori chicken poutine: Basically Maneet’s version of cheese fries. Don’t skip these babies!
-Of course the kabobs.
DINNER: Your main course could go about 10 different ways and I honestly think you’ll be happy with it all. I suggest going with a few people, over-ordering then eating off each other’s plates. You can make your own dish – which is what I always do… choose one vegetable and one sauce. I love the moilee (coconut curry) sauce withe vegetables and steamed basmati rice!
Maneet also has an ode to Nashville’s signature meat-and-three dish with her flair—the Desi Tiffin. Tiki Masala is incredible too.
OK now I’m starving.
So wearing white jeans to an Indian restaurant was probably not the best idea. Miraculously, however, no curry ended up on my Paige denim!
I got this top from one of my favorite Nashville boutiques, E. Allen. What I love about this boutique is the wide-range of clothing… They’ve got chic, casual clothing but also great date-night outfits and work-appropriate dresses. Stylist Cassidy help me put this together – the tie-front trend is so fun right now! This abstract print is kind of tie-dye-like and perfect with my favorite white Paige denim.
